Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia; Barnardo’s Australia Mother of the Year 2013 NSW State Awards Ceremony; Retirement function for Mr Gary Miller; State Visit to Papua New Guinea

On Monday 22 April 2013, following the departure of the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO to undertake a State Visit to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

Afterwards, in the Stranger’s Dining Room, Parliament House, Sydney, the Administrator attended the Barnardo’s Australia Mother of the Year 2013 NSW State Awards Ceremony.

Later, at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the Administrator attended the retirement function for the Director of Operations of the Sydney Local Health District, Mr Gary Miller.

Then, at Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, the Governor-General, as guest of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Honourable Rimbink Pato OBE MP, attended a ceremonial welcome, and as guest of the Commander of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force, inspected a guard of honour.

Afterwards, at the Airways Hotel, Port Moresby, the Governor-General received a visit briefing from the Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Her Excellency Ms Deborah Stokes.

Later, at Government House, Port Moresby, the Governor-General met with the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio GCL GCMG OBE.

Then, at the Airways Hotel, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, the Honourable Peter O’Neill CMG MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a ceremony with the Prime Minister to hand over climate data collected by Geoscience Australia to the Government of Papua New Guinea.

Later, at the Hohola Youth Development Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of the Director and Principal, Brother Antony Swamy, met with students, staff and members of the local community, and viewed the Australian funded facilities.

Then, at Parliament House, Port Moresby, the Governor-General, as guest of the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, attended a State Dinner hosted in her honour.
