Federal Executive Council; Swearing-in Ceremony for new Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries

On Monday 25 March 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General signed instruments of appointment for Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.

Later, the Governor-General attended a ceremony at which the Oaths and Affirmations of Office and Executive Councillor were issued to the newly appointed Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries: the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and Minister for Regional Development and Local Government; the Honourable Tony Burke MP, Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, and Minister for the Arts; the Honourable Craig Emerson MP, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research, Minister for Trade and Competitiveness, and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Asian Century Policy; the Honourable Greg Combet AM MP, Minister for Climate Change, Industry and Innovation; the Honourable Mark Dreyfus QC MP, Attorney-General, Minister for Emergency Management, Special Minister of State, and Minister for the Public Service and Integrity; the Honourable Gary Gray AO MP, Minister for Resources and Energy, Minister for Tourism, and Minister for Small Business; Senator the Honourable Jan McLucas, Minister for Human Services; Senator the Honourable Don Farrell, Minister for Science and Research, and Minister Assisting on Tourism; the Honourable Catherine King MP, Minister for Regional Services, Local Communities and Territories, and Minister for Road Safety; the Honourable Sharon Bird MP, Minister for Higher Education and Skills, the Honourable Bernie Ripoll MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business; the Honourable Yvette D’Ath MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change, Industry and Innovation; Dr Andrew Leigh MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister; Senator Matt Thistlethwaite, Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, and Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs; Ms Amanda Risworth MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and Urban Water, and Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Careers; Mr Shayne Neumann MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney-General, and Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing; and Mr Michael Danby MP, Parliamentary Secretary for the Arts.

Earlier, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a lunch as guest of the Ambassador of the Italian Republic, His Excellency Gian Ludovico De Martino Di Montegiordano.
