Governor-General and Mr Bryce attend Foundation Stone Ceremony
The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce marked 100 years since Australia’s capital city was named during a special Centenary of Canberra ceremony at the Foundation Stone on Capital Hill.
Reflecting on this historic occasion, Ms Bryce recalled the words of former Governor-General, Lord Denman, who envisaged Canberra resembling “the city beautiful of our dreams”.
Mr Bryce also recounted the words of Lady Denman, who named the capital city ‘Canberra’.
