Governor-General visits flood-affected Bundaberg
The Governor-General visited flood-affected residents of Bundaberg, Queensland, and saw the extensive damage that has occurred across the city and surrounding districts.
Ms Bryce, accompanied by Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor, Councillor Mal Forman, received a briefing from emergency services and Defence Force personnel at the Disaster Management Coordination Centre, and visited displaced residents at the neighbouring Civic Evacuation Centre.
The Governor-General also visited the Impact Skills Centre, which she opened in 2011, and met volunteers assisting with the clean-up efforts.
Ms Bryce later met flood-affected residents, Red Cross volunteers and members of the Queensland Ambulance Service based at the Agrotrend Evacuation Centre.
In the evening, the Governor-General met Salvation Army members at the Civic Centre before having dinner with flood-affected residents.
