Visit to flood affected regions in Queensland

On Wednesday 30 January 2013, at Emergency Management Queensland, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Premier, the Honourable Campbell Newman MP, attended a briefing on the Queensland flood situation and met with Emergency Management staff.

Afterwards, at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chair of the Metro North and Hospital Service Board, Dr Paul Alexander AO met with patients relocated from Bundaberg Base Hospital.

Later, in Laidley, the Governor-General, as guest of the Mayor of the Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Councillor Steve Jones AM, met with business owners affected by the recent floods.

Then, at St Mary’s Primary School, Laidley, the Governor-General met with volunteers assisting with the clean-up efforts.

Afterwards, at Laidley High School, the Governor-General met with residents and volunteers at the Laidley Evacuation Centre.

Later, in Grantham, the Governor-General met with residents affected by the recent floods at the Grantham Evacuation Centre.

Then, at the Withcott Hotel, the Governor-General met with residents of the Lockyer Valley.
