Duke of Edinburgh Awards; International Day of Mourning; Sydney Cup; University of NSW Symphony Orchestra; Lunch with the President of the Republic of Singapore

On Saturday 28 April 2012, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, hosted the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards, where the Administrator, as Vice-Regal Patron in New South Wales, presented certificates to awardees.

Afterwards, at Reflection Park, Sydney, the Administrator attended the International Day of Mourning commemorative service for workers who have lost their lives in the workplace.

Later, at Royal Randwick Racecourse, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas attended the Schweppes Sydney Cup.

Then, at the University of Sydney, the Administrator attended a concert of Mahler and Mozart, performed by the University of New South Wales Symphony Orchestra.

Earlier, at the Istana, Singapore, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, met with the President of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam and Mrs Mary Tan, and later attended a lunch hosted in their honour by the President and Mrs Tan.
