Anzac Day 2012, Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan

The Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce have commemorated Anzac Day with Australian troops at their base in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.

For the second time since she was sworn in as Governor-General in 2008, Ms Bryce stayed overnight at the base, sharing dinner with members of the ADF forces based at Uruzgan province.

At dawn, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce joined hundreds of troops for a moving Anzac Day Dawn Service, at the base’s simple stone memorial. Later, she enjoyed breakfast and a chat with troops at "Poppy's" restaurant.
