On Friday 26 March 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, His Excellency Mr Ghanim T. Al-Shibli and Mrs Ahlam A Ali.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chair of Australian Antarctic Names and Medal Committee, Dr Joe Johnson CSC. In the evening, at the Solander Gallery, Yarralumla, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a reception at which the Governor-General officially opened the ???Garry Shead' exhibition. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the Planning Institute of Australia's National Awards for Planning Excellence, at which the Governor-General presented the Planning Ministers' Award. Earlier, at Government House, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended a morning tea in support of Malkara School.
