On Friday 5 February 2010, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan; the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Dr Saeed Al Shamsi; the Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Khalid Al Ghaith; the Director-General Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Abdul Hamid Kazim; Legal Affairs Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Mr Saeed Muhair Bakhit Echtibi; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Stephen Smith MP; and the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mr Doug Trappett.
Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a lunch for the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Baroness Valerie Amos. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Private Secretary to Her Majesty The Queen, the Right Honourable Christopher Geidt CVO OBE. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received Adjunct Professor of the University of Queensland, Professor Brian Burdekin AO, who was accompanied by Mrs Marie Burdekin.
