On Thursday 10 December 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the 2009 Graduation Parade of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets, at which the Governor-General as Commander-in-Chief reviewed the Parade, presented the Commander-in-Chief's Medal and delivered the address. Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General received the Chairman of the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project Committee, Major General Tim Ford AO (Retired) and the Vice-Chairman of the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project Committee, Mr Matthew Burke OAM. Later, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar, His Excellency Mr Hla Myint. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a Christmas reception for Friends of Government House.
