On Wednesday 9 December 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Mr Stephen Chiketa.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a morning tea for Canberra Legacy. Later, the Governor-General received the Executive Director of the Foundation for Development Cooperation, Mr Craig Wilson, and the Chairman, Mr Bob Lyon. In the afternoon, at the Calvary John James Hospital, Deakin, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the Friends of Calvary John James Hospital Christmas reception. Later, at Red Hill, Mr Bryce attended the Australian Institute of Architects ACT Chapter annual Christmas reception. In the evening, at Government House, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a Christmas function for representatives of the media and their partners.
