On Friday 27 November 2009, at the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron, officially opened the Annual Home Hospice Conference.

Afterwards, at The Rocks, Sydney, the Governor-General attended a lunch hosted by Jones Lang LaSalle with senior members of the Australian business community. In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Patron, hosted a reception for UNICEF Australia. Later, at the Commonwealth Club, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the St John Ambulance Australia National Board Dinner. Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the Governor-General of the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui GCMG CSI OBE, by Commander Geoffrey Fiedler ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
