On Thursday 26 November 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Stephen Tarus, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Yvonne Wamalwa (Deputy Head of Mission), Ms Beatrice Muthigana (First Secretary) and Ms Margaret Iraki (Administrative Assistant).

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Paul Essel, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Paul Antwi (Minister), Mr Leonard Mensah (Minister Counsellor) and Mrs Doris Crah (Third Secretary). Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Oguz Ozge, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Recep Peker (Counsellor), Colonel Ali Kocer (Military Attach?”) and Mr Umut Lutfi Ozturk (Second Secretary). The Governor-General also received Mrs H. Mehtap Ozge. Then, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Jeffrey L. Bleich, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the United States of America. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Daniel Clune (Deputy Chief of Mission), Ms Paula Doyle (Counsellor, Regional Affairs) and Colonel Andrew Britschgi (Attach?”, Defense and Air). The Governor-General also received Mrs Rebecca Bleich. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of Brightwater Care Group Incorporated, Western Australia, Dr Penny Flett. Later, the Governor-General hosted an afternoon tea in honour of the High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya; the High Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana; the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey; and the Ambassador of the United States of America. In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General hosted a reception to mark the 20th Anniversary of the founding of Australia's Academic and Research Network and the genesis of the internet in Australia, and launched the book ???Twenty Years of the Internet in Australia.' Afterwards, at the Canberra Institute of Technology, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the official opening of the Canberra Institute of Technology Environmental Design Student Exposition by Graphic Design Students.
