On Monday 23 November 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Ireland, Mr Bruce Davis AM.

Afterwards, at Narrabundah, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the new Cassells Building for Marymead. Later, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received Dr Dale Spender AM. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for the ACT Division of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Australia, at which the Governor-General, as Patron, presented the Gold Awards.
