On Thursday 19 November 2009, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sydney, Dr Michael Spence.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a Christmas Party for children from: Parramatta West Public school; Camp Quality; Aspect Vern Barnett School; St Monica's Primary School; Autism Spectrum Australia; Aspect South East Sydney School; St Lucy's School; The Thomas Pattison School; Ronald McDonald House Westmead; Ronald McDonald House Randwick; Assistance Dogs Australia; Young Carers; and EarlyEd. Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mrs Theresa Hayward OAM for afternoon tea. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the European Australian Business Council.
