On Wednesday 18 November 2009, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the Governor-General of the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Kabui GCMG CSI OBE and Lady Grace Kabui; the High Commissioner for the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Mr Victor Ngele; and the Private Secretary to the Governor-General, Mr Siza Rawclif.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chairman of Pathways Foundation, Mr David Vaux. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a Christmas Party for children from: Bondi Public School Support Unit; The Spastic Centre NSW; St Vincent de Paul Society; Down Syndrome Association of NSW; The Salvation Army; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; Children's Hospital Westmead Renal Unit; Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick Renal Unit; and The Smith Family. Later, the Governor-General received the Managing Director of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Ms Judy Stewart. Then, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of the Oroton Group, Ms Sally Macdonald. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for The Global Foundation.
