On Tuesday 17 November 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received representatives of Forgotten Australians and former Child Migrants: Mr Andrew Murray; Mr Norman Johnson; Mr Harold Haig; Ms Leonie Sheedie; Mr Frank Golding; Ms Caroline Carroll; and Mr David Jackson on the occasion of the national apology.

Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the Governor-General of the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui CSI CMG OBE, by Commander Ted Wynberg ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
