On Thursday 3 September 2009, in Port Augusta, South Australia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Joint Patrons, visited the new Royal Flying Doctor Service facilities.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Ramsey Village Aged Care Facility. In the evening, at the Port Augusta Cultural Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a Civic Reception hosted in their honour by the Mayor of Port Augusta, Councillor Joy Baluch AM, at which the Governor-General officially opened a photographic exhibition by Mr David Simpson. Earlier, at the St Luke's Anglican Church, Toowoomba, Queensland, the Governor-General was represented at the funeral service of the late Pilot Officer Robert Carver, by Group Captain Guy Burton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
