On Saturday 25 July 2009, in Kinglake, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Mayor of Murrindindi Shire Council, Councillor Lyn Gunter, met with the local community and attended the Kinglake vs Poweltown under 18s football match.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a lunch for women of Kinglake who were affected by the February bushfires. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Captain, Ms Helen Goodman, visited the Kinglake Community Service Hub. Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Manager, Ms Arwyn Taylor, visited the Kinglake temporary village. Earlier, Mr Bryce attended a lunch to discuss bushfire reconstruction and related issues. In the afternoon, in Flowerdale, Victoria, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Flowerdale Temporary Village.
