On Thursday 26 March 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO received from His Excellency Primo Alui Joelianto, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Samsu Rizal (Minister Counsellor), Mr Raudin (Minister Counsellor) and Air First Marshall Kuswantoro (Defence Attach?”) from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. The Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE also received Mrs Susilowati Joelianto.

Afterwards, the Administrator received from His Excellency Dr Abdul Karim Koroma, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Sierra Leone. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Alex K. Fakondo (Head of Chancery). Later, the Administrator received from His Excellency Mr Byron Ren?” Escobedo Men?”ndez, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Byron Estuardo Figueroa (Honorary Consul of the Republic of Guatemala in Sydney). The Administrator and Sir Nicholas also received Mrs Miriam de Escobedo. In the afternoon, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas hosted to lunch: the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia and Mrs Susilowati Joelianto; the High Commissioner for the Republic of Sierra Leone; the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala and Mrs Miriam de Escobedo; the Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Commission and Mrs Aideen Daly; the Ambassador of Romania and Mrs Cristina Stuparu; Mr Will Boon; Professor Simon Bronitt and Ms Jane Gath; Mr Jason Collins; the Reverend Professor James Haire AM DD; Dr Serrie Kamara; Mr Augustin Luchian; Mr Mihai Maghiaru and Mrs Aneta Maghiaru; Dr John Minns and Ms Sophie Singh; Ms Anne Moores; Dr Benjamin Reilly and Ms Andrea Gleason; Mr David Ritchie AO; and Mr Ezekiel Solomon. At Maputo Central Hospital, Republic of Mozambique, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited the Paediatric Day Hospital and Malnutrition Ward. Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce departed the Republic of Mozambique on a State Visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
