On Thursday 19 February 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Director of the Ministry of Health, People's Republic of China, Mr Kong Lingzhi, and the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health, People's Republic of China, Professor Yu Xin.

In the evening, in the Great Hall, Australian National University, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General conducted the installation of Professor Kim Beazley AC as Chancellor of the Australian National University, and afterwards were guests at the Chancellor's installation dinner. Earlier, Mr Bryce, as Patron, received the Chief Executive of Brumbies Rugby, Mr Andrew Fagan.
