On Tuesday 17 February 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the National President of Scouts Australia, Sir William Deane AC KBE; the Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia, Mr Reginald Williams RFD; the National Project Commissioner of Scouts Australia, Mr Graeme Fordham AM; and the National Chief Executive of Scouts Australia, Mr Richard Miller.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, received the following houseguests: the Governor of New South Wales Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE; the Governor of Victoria Professor David de Krester AC and Mrs Jan de Krester; the Governor of Tasmania His Excellency the Honourable Peter Underwood AO and Mrs Frances Underwood; the Governor of Queensland Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO and Mr Stuart McCosker; and the Administrator of the Northern Territory His Honour Mr Tom Pauling AO QC and Mrs Tessa Pauling. Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Governors of New South Wales, Western Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and the Administrator of the Northern Territory, attended briefings by the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC; the Secretary to the Treasury, Doctor Ken Henry AC; and the Secretary Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Michael L'Estrange AO. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a dinner in honour of the Governors of New South Wales, Western Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and the Administrator of the Northern Territory.
