On Thursday 5 February 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron of Assistance Dogs Australia, received the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Richard Lord, accompanied by Ms Tanya Clarke. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received a farewell call by the High Commissioner for the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Mr Elly Elikunda Elineema Mtango and Mrs Flora Mtango. Earlier, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the Chief Executive Officer, National Health and Medical Research Council, Professor Warwick Anderson AM.
