On Tuesday 3 February 2009, at the Female Factory Historic Site, Hobart, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chairman, the Honourable Peter Rae AO, toured the site and attended a tree planting ceremony in the Memorial Garden.

Afterwards, at Government House, Hobart, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of OAK Tasmania, Mr John Paton. Later, the Governor-General received the President of the Legislative Council, the Honourable Sue Smith MLC. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce attended a State Dinner hosted in their honour by the Governor of Tasmania, His Excellency the Honourable Peter Underwood AO and Mrs Frances Underwood. Earlier, at the High Court of Australia, Canberra, the Governor-General was represented at the swearing-in ceremony for the Honourable Justice Virginia Bell, by the Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Mr Stephen Brady. In the afternoon, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP, by Commander Michael Hickey ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
