On Friday 23 January 2009, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Administrator, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, as Guests of Honour, attended the NSW Australia Day Luncheon.

Later, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE returned to Australia on completion of their visit to the Republic of Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
