On Tuesday 9 December 2008, at the Royal Military College of Australia, Duntroon, ACT, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the 2008 General Service Officers' Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, reviewed the Parade and presented the Sword of Honour and The Queen's Medal, and afterwards presented Commissions and Graduate Certificates to Staff Cadets.
Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Mr John Lanyasunya. Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of the French Republic, His Excellency Mr Michael Filhol. Then, at the Residence of the Ambassador of the United States of America, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a dinner hosted in their honour by the Ambassador of the United States of America, Mr Robert McCallum Jr and Mrs Mimi McCallum. Earlier, at St Paul's Cathedral Melbourne, the Governor-General was represented at the State Funeral for the late the Honourable Frank Crean, by Brigadier Steven Aird ADC, and Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
