On Tuesday 2 December 2008, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the Honourable Gough Whitlam AC QC and Mrs Margaret Whitlam AO.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a Christmas Party for children from: Alice Betteridge School; The Spastic Centre NSW; St Vincent de Paul Society; Kidney Kids; Bondi Public School ??? Support Unit; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; Down Syndrome Association of NSW; and Royal Far West School. Later, the Governor-General received the Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Commissioner responsible for Age Discrimination, Ms Elizabeth Broderick. Then, at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chairman of Asialink, Mr Sidney Myer AC, attended a reception at which the Governor-General presented the Sir Edward ???Weary' Dunlop Asia Medal to Mr Richard Woolcott AC.
