On Wednesday 26 November 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a morning tea for the General Sir John Monash Foundation where the Governor-General, as Patron-in-Chief, presented the 2009 General Sir John Monash awards.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Bryce hosted a morning tea for Legacy Widows from Canberra and the surrounding area. Later, the Governor-General received the President of the Legacy Club of Canberra, Mr Brian Edwards, and the Secretary of the Legacy Club of Canberra, Mr Peter Eveille. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador-designate to The Holy See, The Honourable Tim Fischer AC. Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr Albert Chua; the Speaker of the House of the Parliament of Singapore, Mr Abdullah Tarmugi and Members of the Parliament of Singapore; Dr Lilly Neo; Mr Ong Kian Min; Mr Seah Kian Peng; Mr Lim Biow Chuan; Dr Lam Pin Min; and Mr Satish Rai.
