On Monday 24 November 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the European Union, His Excellency Mr Bruno Julien. Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a Christmas Party for children from: Australian Capital Territory / Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group; Amaroo Primary School ??? Learning Support Unit; Cranleigh School; Chisholm Primary School ??? Learning Support Unit; Holt Primary School ??? Learning Support Unit; Malkara School; Marymead; Monash Primary School ??? Learning Support Unit; Narrabundah Primary School ??? Learning Support Unit; The Turner School; and Urambi Primary School ??? Learning Support Unit Later, the Governor-General received the Special Coordinator of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands, Mr Graeme Wilson. Then, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Dr Badre Eddine Allali and Mrs Mariame Iraki Allali.
