On Monday 17 November 2008, at the Istana, Singapore, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE were received by the President of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr Sellapan Rama Nathan and Mrs Nathan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of honour, attended a State Banquet hosted by the President of Singapore and Mrs Nathan. Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Singapore City Gallery and the Housing Development Board Estate. Afterwards, at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General had an orchid named in her honour.
