On Monday 29 September 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Acting Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms Pamela O'Grady.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Honourable Justice Catherine Branson, Judge of the Federal Court of Australia. Later, at the National Police Memorial in Kings Park, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the National Police Remembrance Day Memorial Service, at which the Governor-General and Mr Bryce laid a wreath. Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP by, Commander Michael Hickey ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
