On Tuesday 20 November 2007, the Governor-General sent a message of congratulations on behalf of the People of Australia to Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on the occasion of their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

In the morning at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received a Chinese delegation led by Mr??ZHAO Hongzhu, Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Communist Party of China (CPC), People's Republic of China. Later, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery hosted a Christmas Party for children from: Malkara School; Cranleigh Public School; Learning Support Unit, Chisholm Primary School; Monash Primary School; Marymead; The Salvation Army; Defence Special Needs Support Group; The Smith Family; Woden School; the Turner School; and ACT/Eden-Monaro Cancer Support Group. In the afternoon, at RAAF Base Townsville, Queensland, the Governor-General presented the Regimental Guidon and delivered an address at a Parade commemorating the 20th??Anniversary of the 5th Aviation Regiment. In the evening, at Jezzine House, Townsville, the Governor-General, as the guest of honour, attended a reception hosted by Brigadier J. Caligari, Commander 3rd Brigade.
