On Thursday, 25 October 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received from Her Excellency Mrs Sujatha Singh, Letters of Commission accrediting her as High Commissioner for the Republic of India. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Vinod Kumar, (Deputy High Commissioner); and Mr Namagyal Dorjee Khangserpa (Head of Chancery) High Commission of India.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Dr Hanns Porias, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Republic of Austria. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Wolfgang Strohmayer (Deputy Head of Mission); and Mr Josef Prelec (First Secretary), Embassy of Austria; and Mr Roman Rauch (Consul-General), Austrian Consulate-General, Sydney. The Governor-General also received Dr??Andrea Porias. Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Henri Fissore, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco. Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted to lunch: the High Commissioner for the Republic of India; the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria and Dr??Porias; the Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco; Mr Peter Bartels, AO and Mrs??Marilyn Bartels; Mr Matko Bozanic and Mrs Anthea Bozanic; Major General Steve Gower, AO and Mrs??Heather Gower; Mr Michael Hatton, MP, and Mrs Shirley Hatton; Rear Admiral Oscar Hughes, AO; Mr Antonie Hupfau and Mrs Jan Hupfau; Professor Robin Jeffrey and Mrs??Lesley Jeffrey; Mrs Karine Lemon; Dr Mark Matthews; Ms Lyndall McLean, AM; and Mr David Ritchie, AO. In the afternoon, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General hosted a reception for the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project. Earlier, the Governor-General was represented at Brisbane International Airport at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Ludwig Scotty, MP, by Commander F. Peters RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
