On Friday, 7 September 2007, at Admiralty House, Sydney, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General was invested with an Honorary Grand Companion of the Order of the Logohu by the Right Honourable Grand Chief Sir Michael T. Somare GCL GCMG CH CF KStJ, Prime Minister of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Honourable Sam Abal, MP; Parliamentary Secretary for Education, the Honourable David Arore, MP; Chief Secretary to Government, Ambassador Mr Isaac Lupari; High Commissioner for Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Mr Charles Lepani; Acting Director General State Protocol, Ms Joan Vanariu MBE; and Official Secretary to the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, Mr Tipo Vuatha LVO MBE. Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery hosted the Prime Minister to luncheon.

In the evening, Their Excellencies received the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr Vladimir Putin, accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Sergey Lavrov; Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Mr Artur Chilingarov; Ambassador of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr Alexander Blokhin; Head of the Committee for International Relations of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Mr Konstantin Kosachev; and the Australian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mr Bob Tyson. Earlier, the Governor-General was represented at Sydney International Airport at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Russian Federation, His??Excellency Vladimir Putin, by Commander Ted Wynberg RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
