On Tuesday 24 April 2007, at Ipswich, Queensland, the Governor-General, His??Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC delivered the commemorative address and laid a wreath at the Ipswich Girls' Grammar School Service to mark ANZAC Day.

Afterwards, at Toowoomba, Queensland, the Governor-General officially delivered the opening address at the Sunrise Way Therapeutic Community Facility. Earlier, the Governor-General sent a message of condolence to the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the death of the late first President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr Boris Yeltsin.
