On Thursday 29 March 2007, at Government House Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at Government House Canberra, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery received the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, Canada, His Honour the Honourable John Harvard, PC, OM and Her Honour Ms Lenore Berscheid. Earlier, at the Australian National Botanic Gardens, Canberra, Mrs Jeffery officially opened the Rock Garden Shelter, a project of the Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
