On Monday 26 March 2007, at Swanbourne Barracks, WA, Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a ceremony to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Special Air Service, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force and Honorary Colonel of the SAS Regiment, launched the 50th Anniversary Australian SAS 1957 - 2007 Coin.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies attended an Order of Australia Investiture ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested SAS personnel with the insignia of their appointment in the Order.
