On Friday 9 March 2007 at Admiralty House, Sydney, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery received the Prime Minister, the Honourable John Howard MP and Mrs Janette Howard. Afterwards, the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister signed the instruments of revocation and appointments for the Ministers to their respective new offices. Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended a ceremony at which the requisite Oaths of Office and Executive Councillor Oath were administered to the newly appointed Ministers: Senator the Honourable Chris Ellison, Minister for Human Services; and Senator the Honourable David Johnston, Minister for Justice and Customs.

In the evening, onboard MY Boadicea, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Patron-in-Chief of the Constitution Education Fund ??? Australia, and Mrs Jeffery, as guests of Mr and Mrs Reg Grundy, attended the Constitution Education Fund ??? Australia Trustees Reception.
