On Friday 2 March 2007, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of the Administrator, Indian Ocean Territories, His Honour Mr Neil Lucas PSM and Mrs Margaret Lucas, arrived in the Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands at the commencement of a visit to the Indian Ocean Territories.

In the morning, on the West Island, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended an assembly at the Cocos (Keeling) Islands District School West Island Campus, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and presented the West Coast District Positive Image Award to Miss Norhidayah Guyu. Afterwards, on Home Island, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the Home Island Bungalows and Community Resource Centre. Later, Their Excellencies visited students at the Cocos (Keeling) Islands District Primary School Home Island Campus. In the afternoon, at the Cyclone Shelter, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery, as guests of honour, attended a Civic Reception hosted by the Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Mr Mick Simms and Mrs Irene Simms. In the evening, at the Cocos Club, West Island, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery, attended a Civic Reception held in their honour hosted by the Administrator, Indian Ocean Territories and Mrs Lucas. Afterwards, at the Tropica Restaurant, Their Excellencies, as guests of honour, attended a dinner hosted by the Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Mrs Simms.
