On Monday 12 February 2007 at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Ludwig Scotty MP by Commander Forbes Peters RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

During the week, the Governor-General received further Australia Day messages from the Heads of State of the following countries: Republic of Nauru; Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya; Republic of Yemen, Republic of Malta; Republic of Serbia; Slovak Republic; Malaysia; Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Latvia; and the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria.
