On Wednesday 16 December 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Government House, Canberra to Boydtown, New South Wales.

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Chris Horsburgh, Head of Recovery, Bega Valley Shire Council, met with community members impacted by the 2019-2020 bushfires at the Seahorse Inn.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Mallacoota, Victoria.

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Mark Reeves, Deputy Mayor, met with Lions Club volunteers at the Betka Beach Lookout and Bastion Point Steps.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a community barbeque for individuals and agencies involved in bushfire recovery and rebuilding at Lions Park, Mallacoota.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Brodie Gaudion, Coordinator, met with members of the Mallacoota Youth Sanctuary.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Lynn Casement, President, visited the Mallacoota Arts Council and viewed Epicormic before meeting with contributing artists.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Dr David Appleton, Chair, met with members of the Mallacoota and District Recovery Association.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Genoa, New South Wales, and met with residents impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Genoa, to Government House, Canberra.
