“Linda and I are saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Bryce in Brisbane earlier today,” the Governor-General said.

“Our thoughts are with Dame Quentin and the wider Bryce family at this difficult time.

“Michael was widely respected as an international designer, and most recently was an outstanding support to Dame Quentin during her terms as Governor of Queensland and as Australia’s 25th Governor-General.

“Michael was an integral part of vice-regal events both in Australia and overseas and endeared himself to all. He performed his duties with aplomb.

“A family man through and through. A life lived with tremendous dignity. A true gentleman.
