Omeo, Bruthen, Buchan, Wairewa, Orbost, Victoria

On Wednesday 24 March 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Trish Lynn, Principal, met with students and staff at Omeo Primary School.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a call from Councillor Katrina Humphries, Mayor, Moree Plains Shire Council regarding the impact of flooding in Moree and surrounding regions.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Bruthen where as guests of Mr Ben Murphy, owner, where they met with staff of Tambo Valley Honey.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, travelled to Buchan, where they attended a lunch with community representatives impacted by bushfires and COVID-19.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, travelled to Wairewa, where as guests of Ms Katie Zagami and Mr Matt Zagami, Property Owners, they met with bushfire affected residents of Wairewa and surrounding districts.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley participated in the National Schools Constitutional Convention 2021 via video conference.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Orbost.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Geoff (Dick) Johnstone, Captain, Orbost Fire Brigade, attended a twilight barbecue with members of the Orbost State Emergency Service, Country Fire Authority and other emergency service agencies.
