On Friday 9 April 2021, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) recorded video messages for the Lung Foundation, the ANZAC Day Message with the Governor-General of New Zealand and the National Emergency Medal.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a call from His Excellency Mr Mirza Hajric, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Later, the Governor-General hosted a lunch for Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston AK AFC (Retd).

Then, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, hosted a presentation ceremony for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awards.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Government House, Australian Capital Territory, to Admiralty House, New South Wales.

In the evening, the Governor-General made a televised statement to the nation on the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
