On Monday 12 April 2021, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) participated in an interview with Mr Chris Smith of Radio 2GB regarding the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley as guests of Mr Charles Goode AC, Chairman, Ian Potter Foundation, attended a morning tea at which the late Sir Ian Potter’s 1939-45 Australian Service Medal and Service Records were presented to his wife, Lady Primrose Potter.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Tim Conolon AM, Chief Executive Officer, visited and met with staff at TLC for Kids.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a lunch with Dr Alan Finkel AO and Dr Elizabeth Finkel.
Afterwards, the Governor General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Geelong, Victoria.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Alfred Deakin Professor Julie Owens, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Deakin University, officially opened the Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation Building at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Avalon, Victoria to Government House, Australian Capital Territory.
During the day, Heads of the Diplomatic Corps visited Government House, Australian Capital Territory, to sign a condolence book in memory of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
