On Thursday 20 May 2021, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, as Patron and Guest Speaker, and guest of Mrs Barbie Bates, Executive Director, attended the 8th National Paint the Town REaD Conference.

Afterwards, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Hurley hosted a presentation ceremony and afternoon tea for the Australian Veteran’s Children Assistance Trust.

In the evening, the Governor-General as Patron and guest of Mr Hamish McLennan, Chairman, Rugby Australia, and Sir Rod Eddington AO FTSE, Chair, Rugby World Cup Bid Advisory Board, attended the launch of Australia's Bid to host the Rugby World Cup 2027.

Also in the evening, Mrs Hurley, as Patron, attended the 8th National Paint the Town REaD Conference Dinner.
