On Tuesday 25 May 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Government House, Australian Capital Territory, to Coolangatta, Queensland.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Nerang, Queensland, where as guests of Mr Doug Baird OAM and Mrs Kaye Baird, they unveiled a commemorative headstone in memory of Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG at Allambe Memorial Park.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Currumbin where they met with the Baird family and friends of the late CPL Baird VC MG at the Currumbin RSL.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Binna Burra, where as guests of Mr Steve Noakes, Chairman, met with staff of the Binna Burra Wilderness Lodge.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Beechmont, where as guests of Councillor Greg Christensen, Mayor, Scenic Rim Council, they attended an afternoon tea and met with community members impacted by bushfire.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Coolangatta, Queensland, to Government House, Australian Capital Territory.
