On Tuesday 1 June 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley hosted an event at Government House in recognition of National Reconciliation Week. Afterwards, the Governor-General received Ms Emily Luck, Head-of-Mission Designate, Independent State of Samoa, in the Chancery.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Andrew Barr MLA, Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, visited the National Arboretum Canberra to plant a tree in the Central Valley.
