On Tuesday 22 June 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley hosted a Ministerial swearing-in ceremony, at which the Governor-General issued the Oath and Affirmation of Office to the Honourable Barnaby Joyce MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Dewani Bakkum, Chief Executive Officer, Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services (MARSS), attended the multicultural youth summit, EMERGE 2021.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Mr Shingo Yamagami and Madame Kauro Yamagami, attended a lunch at the Embassy of Japan.

Then the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received representatives of Moonee Valley City Council, including Councillor Cam Nation, Mayor; and Ms Helen Sui, Chief Executive Officer.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Don Spinks AM, Repatriations Commissioner, Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Major General Mike Smith (Retd), Chairman, Gallipoli Scholarship Fund, and Mr Peter Turnbull, Executive Officer, Gallipoli Scholarship Fund.
