On Wednesday 23 June 2021, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), accompanied by Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Dr Muktar Kedir Abdu as the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Ambassador was accompanied by, Mr Beryihun Degu Temesgen, Minister; Mr Hailu Alebachew, Second Secretary; and Mr Gizachew Addis, Second Secretary.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Manpreet Vohra as the High Commissioner for the Republic of India. The High Commissioner was accompanied by, Mrs Naseem Vohra, spouse; Mr Karthigeyan Palaniswamy Subramanyan, Deputy High Commissioner; Captain Akhilesh Menon, Defence Adviser; and Dr Sriram Balakrishan, First Secretary – Political.
Later, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Abdalla Mohamed Ahmed Wadi as the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan. The Ambassador was accompanied by, Mr Ahmed Farah, Counsellor; and Mr Mastour Mousa, Administration Attaché.
Then, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Anderson Nkemakonam Madubike as the High Commissioner for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The High Commissioner was accompanied by, Mrs Bola Ayoka Asaju, Minister; Mr Henry Takwan Abang, Minister Counsellor; and Mr Remmy Martins Nwafor, Senior Counsellor.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a lunch for newly accredited Heads of Mission. Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Cheryl O'Donnell, Chief Executive Officer, PCYC Canberra, attended the launch of the Canberra PCYC's ‘Hands Across the Ages’ initiative, at St Andrew's Aged Care.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for Painaustralia.
